Description (More pics below)
This is a 2003 first production year Fender Stratosonic Dove II in Butterscotch Blonde finish, excellent condition. Weight = 7lbs, 4oz.
Condition
Cosmetically, this 22-year-vintage guitar looks great. No paint missing or dings. No buckle rash. Only superficial scuffs. Frets are very good 8/10 condition. Only very mild flattening just starting on first couple frets. All stock, no mods.
Features
— Chambered mahogany body
— 9.5” radius, C-shape maple neck, rosewood board
— Contour neck heel, Micro-Tilt neck adjustment
Sound & Playability
The Stratosonic has a Gibson-like 24.75” scale neck and sports two “Black Dove” pickups (similar to p90s but true single coils). Mahogany chambered body! How often do you see that on a Fender? Black painted headstock and a transparent butterscotch blonde finish. Unique “Tech-Tonic” bridge made of chrome-plated brass, with each saddle adjustable for string height and intonation, plus overall bridge height adjustment. The bridge is also lockable, so your setting don’t go astray.
The chambered body makes this nice and light to handle and provides tones different than any Strat or Tele. The Black Dove pickups will sound a bit like p90s but with more definition and cleaner tone. The bridge position is something like a fat Tele sound with a little less twang. The middle pickup positon will give you tones similar to Strat out-of-phase positions but with even more warmth. Plays great with no issues. Rare to find one this clean. NO case. I do a full setup and expert packing: details below. Thanks!
Short video showing how I pack a guitar.
Guitar Setup
Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Thanks!
Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 15 years and know how to pack well–with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google “Still Kickin – How to Pack a Guitar” you will find it. Thanks.
About Me
My store is a one-person small business that has been selling used guitars and basses for 15 years now. I do a basic setup and cleaning on every instrument I sell, so depending on workload it may be 1-2 business days before your guitar ships. When it arrives you can depend on it being, clean, set up, and securely packed. Check my feedback for confirmation. Thanks!
